# How to Start Using

This section outlines the steps necessary to use Data Catalog for the first time.

## advance preparation

User permissions must be set in advance in order to use the Data Catalog. For more information, see [User Permission Settings](/docs/user-settings).

## Flow of Use

First, the datastore must be federated or authenticated against the federated datastore. Click on **Data Catalog** from the left side menu of TROCCO and select the data warehouse of your choice. For subsequent steps, please refer to the [datastore authentication procedure](/docs/datastore-integrations-v1#%E3%83%87%E3%83%BC%E3%82%BF%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88%E3%82%A2%E3%81%AE%E8%AA%8D%E8%A8%BC%E6%89%8B%E9%A0%86).

              When assets are captured

              

When datastore integration is performed, the asset import process is executed immediately after the integration. Please wait a moment until the asset import process is complete and the [asset list](/docs/catalog-glossary-v1#%E3%82%A2%E3%82%BB%E3%83%83%E3%83%88%E4%B8%80%E8%A6%A7) is updated.
